Fellowship Objectives The AfPIF fellowship program provides an opportunity to eligible applicants to attend the AfPIF event in person with the aim to: * Promote the establishment of peering coordinator?s role in African Internet Service Providers * Share experiences on ways to improve running and administering of a new, or existing IXP * Business opportunity to meet potential IXP members * Promote public awareness and evangelism of IXPs and peering in general at the national and regional level * Advance and influence national/regional policies on peering and cross-border Internet interconnection * Provide a face-to-face networking opportunity for peers and experts * Promote gender balance in the peering and interconnection ecosystem Fellowship Award Package* Selected AfPIF fellows will receive a partial or full fellowship support which consists of: * A round trip air ticket to Accra, Ghana * Hotel accommodation for the duration of the event. (*other travel costs are not covered by the fellowship program) Fellowship Eligibility Applicants should be individuals actively engaged in Internet policy, business and or technical development relating to peering and transit. Selection Criteria: * Must reside in Africa * Have the necessary aptitude for public speaking * Be actively involved in Internet peering policy, business and technical matters in respective country/region * Have a good awareness of the connection landscape within their country/region * Have previously performed in, or working towards the development of an IXP * Women in the technical field meeting the criteria are encouraged to apply Applicants should be able to demonstrate proof of work done in either of these fields. To apply for an AfPIF fellowship, fully complete this application form. Once your application has been received, it will be reviewed by our selection committee. Should your application be accepted, you will be notified by email. You will need to confirm or decline your acceptance of the fellowship. Incomplete applications or applications submitted after 11 June will not be considered. We also invite you to register for AfPIF.
