Welcome to our daily report from Day 0 at AFIX 2025!

Yesterday's focus was on the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and other social events that helped to set the mood for AfPIF 2025. Registration was officially opened and the venue was a hive of activities. A high tea social was hosted by Women Tech Connect in partnership with Work Online, and LINX which was followed by a welcome cocktail hosted by Equinix.

** ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The African Internet Exchange Points Association held its Annual General meeting at the Lagos Continental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria on August 18, 2025. This meeting preceded the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) that officially starts today, August 19, 2025.  The discussions were very diverse, touching on topics that shape the very fabric of our digital world, from the complexities of funding to the frontiers of the interplanetary internet, highlighting both challenges and opportunities lying ahead particularly on IXP governance best practices and the strategies for growing IXPs among many other pertinent issues. It was concluded with the announcement of the Board election results and confirmation.

** HIGH TEA SOCIAL

The WomenTechConnect High Tea event at AfPIF 2025 fostered connection, celebration, and cross-generational dialogue among Africa’s tech community. The event spotlighted the evolving role of women in tech, created new connections across and built a stronger, more supportive community in the Internet and infrastructure ecosystem.

** WELCOME COCKTAIL

MainOne, Solutions by Equinix hosted delegates to an evening of networking, engagement, sharing and laughter at the Welcome Cocktail. Participants came and enjoy an evening of drinks, good company and experienced a taste of Nigerian hospitality with DJ Mark Tink on the deck.
